CBA: Joint Committee Reaches Agreement on NTTF Salary Floors

The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) established a Joint Committee on Equity and Floors “charged with creating policies and procedures for guiding the distribution of equity pool money and establishing floors for NTTF salaries.” After months of work the University and United Academics (UA) have reached agreement on salary floors for Non-Tenure-Track Faculty (NTTF), and on salary equity increases for Tenure-Track Faculty (TTF). This post describes the NTTF salary floors agreement, with a separate post describing the  salary equity agreement.

NTTF salary floors

 The University is establishing Base Salary Minimums (floors) for all NTTF bargaining unit members. Implementation of the new floors for current NTTF is effective as of September 16, 2013. The University expects the retroactive salary increase to be in paychecks before the end of this academic year. The new floors will apply for all new NTTF hired on or after July 1, 2014.

The salary floors for different NTTF classifications are as follows:

a. Physical Education/Recreation

(1.0 FTE)

$24,000

b. Research Assistants

(1.0 FTE)

$32,000

c. High School Equivalency Program

(1.0 FTE)

$26,000

d. Academic Extension

(1.0 FTE)

$27,000

e. All other Career NTTF

(1.0 FTE)

$36,000

f. Adjunct NTTF

(1.0 FTE)

80% of corresponding career floors

Implementation for current NTTF (effective Sept. 16, 2013)

 1. Raise the base salaries of all eligible current Career NTTF in the bargaining unit to the appropriate base salary floor.
2.  Raise the base salaries of all eligible current Adjunct NTTF in the bargaining unit to 90% of the appropriate corresponding base salary floors. Eligible adjuncts include NTTF in the bargaining unit who were under contract for any part of Fiscal Year 2014.
3. Raise the base salaries of Senior I Career NTTF in the bargaining unit to 8% above the appropriate salary floors.
4. Raise the base salaries of Senior II Career NTTF in the bargaining unit to 17% above the appropriate salary floors.
5. Raise the base salaries of Career NTTF Research Assistants in the bargaining unit with base salaries at or above the base salary floor of $32,000 before this process to 110% of the Research Assistant floor ($35,200).
6. Raise the base salaries of all Career Physical Education/Recreation NTTF in the bargaining unit with base salaries at or above the base salary floor of $24,000 before this process to 110% of the PE/Rec floor ($26,400).
7. Raise the base salaries of Career NTTF who are not covered in B.1, B.3, B.4, B.5, or B.6 to 105% of the appropriate floor.

Note: In any case where the bargaining unit member’s current base salary is at or above the listed salary increases no additional raise will be provided in this process.
